Block-mounting

All block-mounting is professionally done by David McLaughlin, block-mounting specialist.

The image is firstly professionally printed on high quality photographic satin paper, which is then given to David. Its then mounted and laminated onto 12mm MDF, and given painted white sides. It is also possible to match the paint with your wall colour, which would give the effect of the image being extruded from the wall - very interesting. All that is needed is the paint code and it can be reproduced.

The block-mount can also be given a white border, black sides, and a slight black edge, or without a border as shown below.

Summary of options

  • White sides
  • Custom painted sides
  • Black sides with no border
  • Black sides with border
All finishes come with a matt, non-reflective, laminate coating which covers the print and is bonded to the surface at a very high temperature enabling the surface to be easily wiped clean. The Laminate film used also contains inhibitors and UV filters to prevent fading.

Hanging options include;

. Single hole - a small hole is drilled into the back of the MDF to allow the image to hang flush with the wall. (ideal option for smaller artwork).

. Mirror plates - mirror plates are screwed onto the back of the mounted image, which are then attached via screws to the wall.

(ideal for artwork hung in bars, restaurants etc, as the artwork will be more secure)

. Rings and cord - standard way of hanging art. (ideal for larger artwork).
